During this trip we will take you to the south-western corner of Lithuania. Druskininkai is a famous spa resort in southern Lithuania with mineral water springs. It can also boast of many art and historical
museums and galleries, eastern orthodox churches and antique spa houses.
The first water park in Lithuania was opened here. There is also Snow Arena, one of the biggest indoor skiing slopes in Europe. During our day tour from Vilnius we will also show you Grutas Park near Druskininkai. It is a sculpture garden with Soviet-era statues founded in 2001 in beautiful forest of Dzukija National Park. This open-air exhibition consists of 86 statues of Russian Soviet leaders like Stalin, Lenin and other communists. It discloses the negative content of the Soviet ideology and its impact on the value system.
Tour itinerary:
- hotel pick up at chosen time
- up to 2 hours drive from Vilnius to Grutas Park by comfortable, private car/van with private English speaking driver/guide
- up to 1 hour walking tour around the Grutas Park during which you will learn about the dark history of Russian Soviet era and see many sculptures and monuments of cruel Russian dictators like Lenin and Stalin
- short drive from Grutas Park to the centre of Druskininkai resort
- free time for lunch
- around 1 hour of pleasant walk through some of the most beautiful parks of this famous spa resort town during which you will admire colourful churches and impressive fountains
- approx. 2 hours of return journey from Druskininkai to Vilnius by the same vehicle with the same English speaking driver/guide
- drop off at your hotel in Vilnius
